If you read almost any section of the Bible, you’ll hear the words; “Do not be afraid.”
But, in reality, fear is a real part of life — especially when we can’t even trust the air we breathe.
Thankfully, there’s an answer to that fear. As I stated in the first sentence above, God constantly tells through Scripture reading to not be afraid.
We have the God of the universe on our team. What more could we ask?
With that said, let’s listen to what Pastor Rick Warren says about facing fear and faith in an uncertain future.
Video: Pastor Rick Warren Talks about the Future in Uncertain Times
Pastor Warren quotes these verses from James to show how many of us make future plans without God.
“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.”
Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.
Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”
But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.
So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.” ~ James 4:13-20
A Few Months Have Passed – The Message is Still the Same
Although this video by Rick Warren was released in August, 2020 the message of conquering fear still rings true.
I hope the message gives you some hope and inspiration today as it did for me.
We all face fear of some kind on a daily basis.
But, God takes us through it and gives us peace — If we only ask. Here is just one promise…
“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?
And which of you by worrying can add a single day to his life’s span?
And why are you worried about clothing? Notice how the lilies of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin thread for cloth, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you?
You of little faith!
Do not worry then, saying, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear for clothing?’
For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.
“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.” ~ Matthew 6:25-34 (NASB)
