1:1
The revelation of Jesus Christ,
which God gave him to show his
servants what must soon take
place.
He made
it known by sending his angel to
his servant John,
2
who
testifies to everything he
sawthat is, the word of God
and the testimony of Jesus
Christ.
3
Blessed is the one who reads the
words of this prophecy, and
blessed are those who hear it and
take to heart what is written in
it, because the time is
near.
This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is
meant to change the way that we
think, and the way that we live.

The Two
Witnesses of Revelation are
Killed
The beast
referred to here is most likely
either an agent of Satan or Satan
himself.
This period
in which John was writing was
after Jerusalem had been
destroyed by the Romans and all
the temple treasure was
taken.
During
Rome's destruction of Jerusalem,
almost a million Jews were
slaughtered.
Now, within
these books of Revelation,
Jerusalem is compared with Sodom
and Egypt, two evil
cities.
The two
witnesses are slain and left for
people to view for 3 1/2 days
with no-one to bury
them.
