Matthew 9:35-38
Jesus Asks
For Prayer For Mission Workers
9:35
Jesus was going through all the cities and
villages, teaching in their synagogues and
proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing
every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
36 Seeing the people, He
felt compassion for them, because they were
distressed and dispirited like sheep without a
shepherd.
37 Then He said to His
disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the
workers are few.
38 "Therefore beseech the
Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His
harvest."
This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to change
the way that we think, and the way that we live.

Jesus Asks Disciples To
Pray For The Workers
In the first part of this
passage Jesus is traveling throughout the country
teaching and healing with his ministry. As
Christians, we are supposed to follow Christ's'
example and go to the areas surrounding us and plan
missions for around the world.
Christ saw that there were
more people who needed him than he and his
disciples could handle alone. So, he asked his
disciples to pray for more workers to send into the
regions and to those who had not heard his
words.
The point for us to remember
is that the world is full of desperate people who
want to fill the void in their lives but don't know
where to begin. Our prayer should be that God will
send someone to them and that they will be open and
responsive to the good news about filling that
spiritual void through the love and salvation of
Jesus Christ.
One final thought. -- Be
ready, when you pray this prayer to send someone
into the mission field, God may choose you
to go! Are you ready and willing?
