This parable of the two sons
is about earnestly following God and doing the work
Christ laid out for us. The sons had different ways
of answering their father just as we do. See how
these answered a call differently and which was a
true follower.

Jesus
Tells the Parable of the Two
Sons
28 What do you
think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to
the first and said, 'Son, go and work today in the
vineyard.'
29 " 'I will not,' he
answered, but later he changed his mind and
went.
30 "Then the father went
to the other son and said the same thing. He
answered, 'I will, sir,' but he did not
go.
31 "Which of the two did
what his father wanted?"
"The first," they
answered.
Jesus said to them, "I
tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the
prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead
of you.
32 For John came to you to
show you the way of righteousness, and you did not
believe him, but the tax collectors and the
prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you
did not repent and believe him.
This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to change
the way that we think, and the way that we live.

The Two
Sons
- This is not just a story
of a man and his two sons. It is a story about
the nation of Israel -- And us.
-
- The people said they
would obey and work God's will but didn't just
as the second son said he would go to the field
to work but never showed.
-
- How often do we make a
commitment to God only to fall back on it later?
If we are just going through the motions without
any real effort then we are just like the son
who didn't show up for work.
-
- When we pretend that we
are going to follow Christ but don't, we put
ourselves in a dangerous situation because God
knows what is truly in our hearts.
-
- The lesson is not to just
say we are going to do God's will. We
have to really mean it!
