One word comes to
mind -- Integrety. When I read this passage from
Matthew about vows explained by Jesus, this word
rings in my ears. Our word is closely related to
our name so lets make sure and keep them
unmarred.

Matthew 5:33-37
Jesus
Teaches about Vows
5:33
"Again, you have heard that it was said to the
people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep
the oaths you have made to the Lord.'
-
- 34
But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by
heaven, for it is God's throne;
35
or by earth, for it is his footstool; or by
Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great
King.
-
- 36
And do not swear by your head, for you cannot
make even one hair white or
black.
-
37
Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,'
'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil
one."
-
This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to
change the way that we think, and the way that
we live.
Commentary

Jesus Teaches about
Vows
Oaths and vows, were common,
but Jesus told his followers not to use them --
their word alone should be enough (see James
5:12).
Are you known as a person
of your word?
Truthfulness seems so rare
that we feel we must end our statements with 'I
promise.' If we tell the truth all the time, we
will have less pressure to back up our words with
an oath or promise.
As Jesus stated, let your
"yes" mean "yes" and your "no" mean "no" and you
will have less to explain later.
This is not rocket science.
Keeping your word should be automatic so it can
become a habit just like being on time or doing
your best at a job.
Keeping your word can also
lead to having something that many people today
lack:; integrety!

- What
did Jesus Say about
Divorce
- Divorce, a common word these days as at least
half the marriages taking place right now will end
in a matter of years, or months. This study lesson
for Baptists and other Christian denominations
gives a clear picture about marriage and
relationship with a spouse. Jesus did not take
divorce lightly and neither should
we.
