Matthew
4:23-25
Jesus -
The Man From Galilee
4:23
Jesus was going
throughout all Galilee, teaching in their
synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and
every kind of sickness among the people.
24 The news about Him spread
throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all
who were ill, those suffering with various diseases
and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and
He healed them.
25 Large crowds followed Him
from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and
Judea and from beyond the Jordan.

This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to
change the way that we think, and the way that
we live.
Commentary
by Bob Pardue
Following The Ministry Of
Jesus Throughout Galilee
Jesus traveled throughout
Galilee preaching, teaching and healing. These
three things constituted His ministry and each has
significance.
1. Jesus As
Preacher
The preaching aspect shows
that Jesus was concerned about commitment. There
are many writers who have researched the type
preacher Jesus became.
I like to believe that He
spoke with authority but without screaming His
message as many do. My opinion is -- Calm but
powerful in a clear, captivating voice. Of course,
I welcome comments about this.
2. Jesus The
Teacher
Jesus wanted not only to
preach the message but to make sure His people
understood the message which is one reason many of
His messages came in the form of parables
(stories)
3. Jesus The
Healer
The healing power Jesus
displayed was for authentication. The miracles He
performed proved that Christ truly came as a
representative from God.
As we grow into more mature
Christians, we come to understand that Jesus not
only heals physically, but spiritually as
well.
We are blessed by the fact
that, no matter how big we believe our sin to be,
it is not too big for God. He will forgive and
forget our shortcomings if we only ask.
The Ministry Of Jesus
Christ
Christ's physical ministry
ended 2,000 years ago but His spiritual ministry is
still very much alive today.
The message is simple but
profound. It is still the mainstay of Christianity
--
- The kingdom of heaven has
come
- God is with us
always
- He cares what happens in
our lives
If we can remember these
three statements then we can truly hear Christ
preach. Within them is the offer of peace, freedom
and eternal life.
What a powerful
sermon!
