"I once was blind, but now I see" is the theme of
this message from Mark. The blind man was healed
when Jesus touched him but what about our
sightlessness?

Mark 8:22-26
Jesus
Restores Sight to a Blind Man
8:22
"They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a
blind man and begged Jesus to touch
him.
-
- 23
He took the blind man by the hand and led him
outside the village. When he had spit on the
man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus
asked, 'Do you see anything?'
-
- 24
He looked up and said, 'I see people; they look
like trees walking around.'
-
- 25
Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes.
Then his eyes were opened, his sight was
restored, and he saw everything
clearly.
-
26
Jesus sent him home, saying, 'Don't go into the
village.'"

This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to
change the way that we think, and the way that
we live.
Commentary

Jesus helps the blind to
see
As I was reading this
passage, I wondered why Jesus would have to touch
the blind man a second time for the healing to take
place.
Couldn't Jesus just say,
"Be Healed!" and instantly bring the man's
sight back to him?
The answer is;
absolutely!
The first time (or the second
or the third) we are introduced to the Scripture we
don't always "see the light" either. We are just as
the blind man and have to be exposed over and over
to God's Word before we start to "get
it".
After we accept Christ as our
Lord and Savior, it takes time to develop our
spiritual maturity. Perhaps Jesus was demonstrating
to the disciples that true belief sometimes works
better in stages.
Continue to study your Bible,
attend Sunday School, and God's Word will be
revealed to you more and more. Just as the old
favorite hymn says; "I once was blind, but now I
see.", so will we!
Good things sometimes take
time. d:-)
