Mark 8:11-13
Religious
Leaders Ask Jesus for a
Miracle
8:11-13
"The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To
test him, they asked for a sign from
heaven.
-
- 12
He sighed deeply and said, 'Why does this
generation ask for a miraculous sign? I tell you
the truth, no sign will be given to
it.'
-
13
Then he left them, got back into the boat and
crossed to the other side."

This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to
change the way that we think, and the way that
we live.
Commentary

Jesus and
miracles
The Pharisees wanted a
physical explanation of Jesus' power. They had
already dismissed his previous miracles as being
done by tricks, luck or even worse, by evil
spirits.
Now they wanted a Godly sign
from heaven but Jesus knew that this would not
convince them any more than the other
miracles. They were so
determined to prove Christ wrong that nothing would
have convinced them.
I believe that miracles
brought about as an answer to prayer from God still
happen today but we need to focus more on our faith
instead of searching for physical evidence of God's
existence.
The question I have for
myself and for you is; "Are we more like the
followers of Christ or more like the Pharisees in
our faith?"
If we answer honestly, it
seems we are more like the Pharisees than other
figures in the Bible. We sometimes look for signs
and proof we can see and hear and touch instead of
depending on our faith in God.
If we have faith, maybe we
will see more miracles in our lives just as the
followers did when Jesus walked the earth. Let us
pray and ask God to help us trust Him and have more
faith in Him instead of searching for the physical
things of this earth.
