John 3:16

Who is God?

3:16 "For God So Loved The World, That He Gave His Only Begotten Son, That Whosoever Believeth In Him Should Not Perish, But Have Everlasting Life "

This is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to change the way that we think, and the way that we live.

Commentary by Bob Pardue

Who is God?

This is an age-old question that has many answers. We as human beings are wired to have doubt and to ask questions. We spend billions of dollars each year trying to learn more about our universe and it's creation.

I am a believer in science in that it helps us to further our knowledge in medicine, better quality of life, etc. but there are many answers we can find right at our fingertips; The Bible.

Who is God? The Holy Bible tells us that ...
  • God is the Creator -- He made you. God made everything including the earth, the sky, the stars, and even the food we eat to sustain our lives.
  •
  • God is Love -- God loves you.
  •
  • God's home is in Heaven. He is preparing a place in Heaven for His children.
  •
  • God is Holy -- He is holy and pure.
The entire gospel comes to a focus in the John 3:16 verse.

God's love is not a selfish or ultimate alternative love. His love reaches out to us and draws us into his open arms.

There is no greater love given than a person who is willing to give his life for another.

God showed us the ultimate love when He paid dearly with the life of his Son, the highest price he could pay.

Jesus took upon himself the punishment we deserved, paid the price for our sins, and then offered us the new life that he had bought for us.

When we share the gospel with others, our love must be like Jesus' -- willingly giving up our own comfort and security so that others might join us in receiving God's love.

Some people see the idea of eternal life as a farce because their lives are so miserable.

But eternal life bears no resemblance to the life God promises those who accept and believe.

He promises a life of "no sorrow" and "no suffering" where we can live in peace and joy.

We are promised this life when we accept Christ. We receive an eternity with God but only have a short while here on earth to prepare for this gift.

When we don't know Christ, we make choices as though this life is all we have .

In reality, this life is just the introduction to eternity.

If you will only receive this new life by accepting Jesus as your savior you can start to make decisions in this life base on an eternal perspective instead of this short (very short) time on earth.

Haven't made that decision? Ask God to guide you. He is waiting with open arms and love.
