Is Noah Crazy!!
The Great
Flood
- Bible Study Lesson from
Genesis 6:9-22
This is the story of Noah as
told in the Old Testament. As we do this Bible
study of Genesis we will discover more about the
history of God, beyond the great flood and how it
rained for 40 days and 40 nights.
6:9
This is the account of Noah.
-
- Noah was a righteous
man, blameless among the people of his time, and
he walked with God.
-
- 10 Noah had three
sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
-
- 11 Now the earth was
corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence.
-
- 12 God saw how corrupt
the earth had become, for all the people on
earth had corrupted their ways.
-
- 13 So God said to
Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people,
for the earth is filled with violence because of
them. I am surely going to destroy both them and
the earth.
-
- 14 So make yourself an
ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat
it with pitch inside and out.
-
- 15 This is how you are
to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75
feet wide and 45 feet high.
-
- 16 Make a roof for it
and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the
top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make
lower, middle and upper decks.
-
- 17 I am going to bring
floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life
under the heavens, every creature that has the
breath of life in it.
-
- Everything on earth
will perish.
-
- 18 But I will
establish my covenant with you, and you will
enter the arkyou and your sons and your
wife and your sons' wives with you.
-
- 19 You are to bring
into the ark two of all living creatures, male
and female, to keep them alive with you.
-
- 20 Two of every kind
of bird, of every kind of animal and of every
kind of creature that moves along the ground
will come to you to be kept alive.
-
- 21 You are to take
every kind of food that is to be eaten and store
it away as food for you and for them."
-
- 22 Noah did everything
just as God commanded him.
This
is the Word of the Lord --- It is meant to
change the way we think, and the way we live.

Noah and the
Ark
Is Noah Crazy?
Think about it. Let's say
you've just finished watching your favorite
football or basketball team on TV, brushed your
teeth, put on your pj's and settled in bed for a
good nights rest.
All of a sudden God says to
you, "I want you to build a gigantic boat and put
your family and two each of all the animals in it
because I'm going to destroy the rest of the
world."
And, this craft is not a
small rowboat. No, this boat is about one and a
half football fields long and 4 stories
high! Oh, I meant to
mention that there was probably no water around for
miles!
What would you
do?
I'm not sure about you but I
might just have myself committed for evaluation to
see if I am sane enough to function in
society! But Noah didn't
react the way you and I might have. Noah had faith
in God and truly believed that when God made a
covenant (a promise), He kept it.
Faith of
Noah
This story is more about
faith and obedience than about a boat and a
flood. Verse 22 sums it
up as it states; "Noah did everything just as
God commanded him." How many times have we been
warned of God's judgment and ignored it? How about
opportunities in life? Did we listen?
My Christian Walk? I was
Stubborn
Although I was baptized at an
early age, I fell away from God for a large portion
of my life until one day I finally listened to what
God was saying to my heart. There was a tug at my
heart to get back to a church family and learn more
about Him.
My Ark - and
Yours
I am still a long, long way
from being perfect (I'll never get there) but now I
have the assurance that Christ will protect me from
the "flood" when God decides to judge the
people of the earth again, which He has promised to
do.
Preparation and
Action
Are you prepared to face the
judgment of God? It's not too late. If you feel
unsure of how to be prepared, there is a simple
ABC
way to receiving Christ
which will help you to understand the first steps
to take to gain a personal relationship with God
through Christ.
I will pray for you this
morning that God will come into your life and give
you the same joy that He has shown to me; not
because I deserve it but just because He loves
me---And you!
