The Ten
Commandments - Number Three
20:7
"You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your
God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless
who misuses his name."

This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to
change the way that we think, and the way that
we live.

The 10 Commandments of
God - The Third Commandment
The name of God is His
identity and should be used only to praise or
worship Him, not as a swear word or amusing
anecdote.
The Israelites believed that
using the name of God would give them some sort of
power over others so many times misused God's name
in order to curse others who had wronged
them.
God's commandments were not
just something He made up on the spur of the
moment. Most of them were a reflection of wrongful
acts He saw His people committing.
Let's be very cautious in how
we use God's name. He is LORD and the ALMIGHTY and
should always be treated with reverence and
respect.
