Exodus
20:3-6
The
Ten Commandments - Number One and
Two
20:3
"You shall have no other gods
before me."
"You
shall not make for yourself an
idol in the form of anything in
heaven above or on the earth
beneath or in the waters below.
5 You
shall not bow down to them or
worship them; for I, the LORD
your God, am a jealous God,
punishing the children for the
sin of the fathers to the third
and fourth generation of those
who hate me, 6 but showing love
to a thousand {generations} of
those who love me and keep my
commandments.

This
is the Word of the Lord ... It
is meant to change the way
that we think, and the way
that we live.

The
10 Commandments of God - The
First Commandment
The
Israelites had just come from
Egypt where there was a "God on
every corner" so to
speak.
The true
living God was placed somewhere
in line with all the others they
worshiped but God wanted people
to know that He was the God who
led them out of Egypt and that
they should worship Him
alone.
In Exodus
20:1-6 you'll see that God places
much more emphasis on this first
commandment than He did on the
others.
God knew
that the people must obey
the first commandment of placing
Him as their one and only God in
order for them to accept the
other nine.
Please
reflect on this first command.
According to Jesus, this is one
of the two most important of the
ten commandments. Do you know
what the other commandment of
Christ is?
Love in
Christ
