Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
A Time for
Everything
-
3:1
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every
activity under heaven:
2
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time
to uproot,
3
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a
time to build,
4
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time
to dance,
5
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a
time to refrain,
6
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time
to throw away,
7
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a
time to speak,
8
a time to love and a time to hate,
- a time for war and a
time for peace.
This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to change
the way we think, and the way we live.
Commentary
by Bob Pardue
Turn, Turn,
Turn by The Byrds ? No ... by King
Solomon
This passage depicting the
words of Solomon may sound very familiar to you
and, with good reason. Remember
the song by The Byrds entitled "Turn Turn
Turn"? These lyrics were taken directly from
Ecclesiastes.
What about the Verses of
Our Lives?
God has a plan for us. These
verses show that there is a time for everything and
God is with us even in the most difficult times in
life. So, God gives us
cycles in life. If you think about it, laughter
would have little meaning if there were no sad
times. We would have nothing to compare and so all
our emotions must come to surface at one time or
another.
A Time for
God
Remember too that God's
timing is perfect so we need to accept these
experiences when they come instead of rebelling
against them which leads to questioning God or
going ahead without Him and His emasculate advice.
Let's try to be more in tune
with God's timing so that we can achieve more peace
with God. And remember,
just as The Byrds and Solomon said; There is a time
for everything - put it in perspective.
