Money is Not the Answer

Bible Study Lesson - Ecclesiastes 10:19

 10:19 A feast is made for laughter,

and wine makes life merry,

but money is the answer for everything.

Money is the answer?

This passage for study from Eccleastes makes us presume that Solomon is a money mogul saying "money is the answer for everything."

Is It?

In reality, although we need money for survival and to maintain a certain lifestyle, it can not buy joy or contentment. For instance, the excitement of the new gadget or apps upgrade we bought last week will be gone by next week and then we will have to go out and buy something else for temporary happiness.

Is Money Evil?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having money; it's the love of money that gives us the problems.

An interesting scene from a movie I watched years ago comes to mind about how some people view life. The movie was starring Danny DeVito who was portraying one of the wealthiest people in New York and made his fortune from the misery of others.

His view on life and happiness was that life was like a game. This is not a direct quote but it went something like;

"You make all the money you can and whoever has the most when he dies - wins."

What's More Important than Money?

Life is similar to a game in some ways but joy in life comes from depending on God, not money, to turn over our problems. Money is temporary - God is forever. Which do you believe will last longer?
