Ecclesiastes
10:11-18
Lack
of Leadership
Consequences
-
- 10:11
If a snake bites before it is charmed,
- there is no
profit for the charmer.
-
- 12 Words from
a wise man's mouth are gracious,
- but a fool is
consumed by his own lips.
-
- 13 At the
beginning his words are folly;
- at the end
they are wicked madness-
-
- 14 and the
fool multiplies words.
- No one knows
what is coming
- who can tell
him what will happen after him?
-
- 15 A fool's
work wearies him;
- he does not
know the way to town.
-
- 16 Woe to
you, O land whose king was a servant
- and whose
princes feast in the morning.
-
- 17 Blessed
are you, O land whose king is of noble
birth
- and whose
princes eat at a proper time
- for strength
and not for drunkenness.
-
- 18 If a man
is lazy, the rafters sag;
- if his hands
are idle, the house
leaks.
This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to
change the way that we think, and the way
that we live.

A Country must
have Leadership
Solomon is
reflecting on the decline and fall of
Israel in the past.
During the times
when there was little or no leadership for
the Israelites, the nation
fell.
Solomon presents the
leaders and kings during these turbulent
times as selfish and lazy.
The leaders started
thinking only of themselves instead of
taking the time to do what was best for
the country.
We have seen this
happen time after time throughout
history.
Pray for our
leaders
My plea for you
today is to pray for our country (If you
reside outside the United States, then of
course pray for your country) and our
leaders that they might seek God's advice
and direct their attention to the needs of
the country and its people; not just their
own.
By praying and
actively listening to God, America can
again become the great nation it once was.
Pray for her.
