Ecclesiastes
3:15-16
Is it
Gloom and Doom? Judgment, Justice, Wickedness -
About Looking Up
-
3:15
Whatever is has already been,
and what will be has been
before;
and God will call the past
to account.
16
And I saw something else under the sun:
In the place of
judgmentwickedness was there,
- in the place of
justicewickedness was
there.
This
is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to change
the way that we think, and the way that we live.
Commentary
by Bob Pardue
The Justice of
God
Solomon is saying that there
is injustice in the world that God made but God
Himself will set this injustice straight when He
feels the time is appropriate.
Life is Temporary - God is
Forever
Even though people die, feel
lonely, are motivated by greed & envy and, in
all reality, all these things are temporary , God
is everlasting and His plan is for us to live with
Him forever. These are
the things we must keep close to revive our faith
when things look gloomy for us and our
world.
When Things Don't Look
Good Down Here - Look Up
The story goes that a recruit
sailor was sent to the bird's nest on the mast of
his ship during a violent storm. About half way up
the rope ladder, the young man became frightened.
The old master below shouted out; "Look up, son,
look up!". He looked up and regained his composure
and his balance.
No matter how we feel,
remember that God knows what He is doing so let us
trust in Him. The outlook may sometimes be dim.
There is wickedness and there will come a time of
judgment and justice, but the "up-look" is always
brighter when we look to God.
