Study the
Book of Ecclesiastes from the Holy Bible - Wise
Words from Solomon
(Each Bible verse
includes commentary for daily living)
Ecclesiastes
1:1-11 -
A
Meaningless
Life -
In this Bible study, we find that, just because we
have money and things, this doesn't mean we will
always be happy, or remembered.
Ecclesiastes
1:12-18
- Meaningless
Wisdom
- Is King Solomon a negative person? It would
seem so but, in fact, he is plainly stating the
fact that the more we know, the more we learn about
pain and suffering. In other words, meaningless
wisdom. Use this study to find how to become
wiser.
Ecclesiastes
2:1 -
Meaningless
Pleasure
- Having a better car is temporary. Pursuing God is
permanent. These are paraphrased words of Solomon
when he says pleasure is meaningless.
Ecclesiastes
2:2-6 -
What
Does Meaningless Pleasure
Accomplish?
- True joy comes by means of a relationship with
God as explained in this Old Testament passage.
Learn the meaning of pure joy.
Ecclesiastes
2:7-11 -
Chasing
After the Wind
- What is true happiness? If it has to do with
money or power or lust as it is so important in
today's society, then King Solomon should have been
ecstatic with joy. Let's study why he wasn't.
Ecclesiastes
2:12-16
- Meaningless
Wisdom and
Folly
- This section for Bible study covers wisdom,
folly and death. The fact that we are going to die
should and does affect the way that we live. Where
will we spend eternity?
Ecclesiastes
2:18-23
- Meaningless
Work -
In this lesson we learn that working for money and
possessions is meaningless because, in the end, it
will all go to someone else who may not deserve it.
Why are you working?
Ecclesiastes
2:24-26
- Work
without
Meaning
- Continuing Solomon's outlook and advice about
work without meaning.
Ecclesiastes
3:1-8 -
A Time
for Everything
- Turn, Turn, Turn says the song. Solomon says
there is a time for everything including happiness
and sadness. God has a plan for us but sometimes we
have to go through the fire again to quench our
thirst for a relationship with Him.
Ecclesiastes
3:9-13 -
Personal
Satisfaction from
Work
- The dream job? Gaining personal satisfaction
from work is not far from what God wants for you.
Taking time to honor Him for giving this blessing
is something we should all do.
Ecclesiastes
3:14 -
Purpose
Driven Life
- In this short study lesson from Ecclesiastes
we find there is only one way to have a purpose
driven life.
Ecclesiastes
3:15-16
- Is it
Gloom and
Doom?
- Plenty of wickedness in this world but it's
not all gloom and doom. God will bring justice and
judgement on both sides.
Ecclesiastes
3:17-22
- Solomon
Says Man Has No Advantage over the
Animals
- Like the animals of the earth, we too will
die someday, maybe even today so we should treat
life and each day as a gift from God.
Ecclesiastes
4:1-6 -
Oppression
- This one is difficult to write about but I
believe Solomon is saying in this Bible study
lesson that, without a relationship with God, all
the money and possessions in the world won't make
you happy or content.
Ecclesiastes
4:7-12 -
You are
not Alone
- The passage inspiring the Bible study lesson
today gives a simple idea of how to overcome
loneliness. You will discover here that you are not
really alone in this world.
Ecclesiastes
4:13-16
- Lifetime
Goals -
Solomon realizes that power and money are
meaningless without wisdom. "Chasing" these things
will only bring emptiness but seeking God will
bring peace. Christians fall into this trap too so
the instructions apply to all. Learn how to balance
your life with purpose and meaning in this lesson
for study from the Bible.
Ecclesiastes
5:1-3 - How to
Pray
- Solomon teaches not to use too many words
when we pray. Jesus follows up by giving us "The
Lord's Prayer" as a guide. In this Bible study
lesson we learn how to pray from the Master.
Ecclesiastes
5:4-7 -
Making
Vows to God
- Have you ever made a promise in haste only to
find you cannot see it through? I believe we all
have. But, Solomon says in these verses from
Ecclesiastes to be careful about keeping vows to
God as we study this lesson from Scripture.
Ecclesiastes
5:8-11 -
The Love
of Riches
- Longing for money and riches and possessions
never ends for many people. If only they (and I)
would realize that God alone can fill the need and
desires of the heart that can never be replaced by
riches or possessions. Study these lessons and
listen to Solomon as he explains why.
Ecclesiastes
5:12-20
- How to
Find Satisfaction at
Work
- Take a look at this study lesson from the Old
Testament. It's about satisfaction at work and
you'll be amazed at how the situations Solomon
mentions apply to today. Are you satisfied with
your job?
Ecclesiastes
6: 1-6 - Satisfaction with
Wealth
- Money and happiness. King Solomon talks about
whether or not being rich will make you happy.
According to him, we will all end up in the same
place, rich or poor.
Ecclesiastes
6:7-10 -
Wishful
Thinking
- In this Bible study lesson Solomon explains
that wishful thinking and hoping will not increase
control over our lives. Only God can do that.
Ecclesiastes
6:11-12
- Predicting
the Future
- Do you believe that
Nostradamus
could predict
the future? Can anyone else? Find out who in this
Bible study lesson as told by Solomon.
Ecclesiastes
7:1-6 -
Still
Time for
Change
- Learn why bad things happen to good people; and
Christians. Sometimes we need sadness in our lives
in order to change it. The Bible study lesson
points toward a time for change and moving
forward.
Ecclesiastes
7:7 -
Money
Talks and Bribes do
Too! -
Taking bribes, accepting payoffs, these are facts
of our country today and many people deem them as
perfectly acceptable. Money talks has become a
cliché but does that make it the right thing
to do? This Baptist Bible study lesson is about
integrity - and waking up.
Ecclesiastes
7:8 -
Money,
Patience and
Success
- Solomon points out that patience is better
than living a prideful life and true success comes
from God instead of money and things. Read and see
how this lesson from the Scriptures can apply to
you.
Ecclesiastes
7:9-14 -
Best of
Times - Worst of
Times -
No matter how we think we are in control, unforseen
things can happen. We will hit bumps in the road at
different times in our lives. Then, there's God.

do Bad Things Happen to Good
People?
- Why does this seem to be the case? And why do
good things happen to some of the worst people on

these Bible study lessons from Ecclesiastes but we
can take comfort in knowing what to do when it
happens to us.

A Common
Destiny

Race is NOT to the

Learn from these lessons how becoming wealthy may
not be all that.

risks for less opportunities. Let's see what
Solomon says in this Bible study lesson.

Impact
- The lesson taken from Solomon is to remember
decisions you've made in the past, be careful about

age but Solomon says we should use our strength
during our younger days while we are still able.
Ecclesiastes

this lesson. Solomon says that we all will grow
older and weaker (if we live to old age) and we
should do everything we can to find the purpose
driven life God desires for us.
Ecclesiastes
12:13-14 - Conclusion of
Solomon
- In this final Bible study lesson from

judgment for every decision we ever made, good or
evil. In other words, we should be preparing now to
live a purpose driven life for God. This is my
prayer for you and for me. - Amen
These
are the Words of the Lord ... They are meant to
change the way we think, and the way we live.

it. Enjoy life!
