1 John-1:5-10

Christians and Sin

1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

This is the Word of the Lord ... It is meant to change the way that we think, and the way that we live.

Commentary by Bob Pardue

Christians and Sin

You know, one large (very large) misconception of Christians is that, to become a Christian one must be without sin or at least live a sinless life.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Jesus is the only person to ever live a sinless life and the difference between a Christian and non-Christian is the fact that Christians have accepted Jesus as the Son of God and, through Him, are saved from their sins.

Living a sinless life is impossible for me just as it is for you. And, there are no big sins (such as murder or divorce) and no small sins (as cheating a little on income tax); there is only sin in God's eyes.

Christians are human so no matter how hard they try, they cannot live a single day without doing something that does not please God.

No, Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.

After receiving Jesus, Christians try to live a life that will be more pleasing to God but will NEVER BE WITHOUT SIN.

The good news is you are offered the very same salvation and forgiveness for your sins too!

All you have to do is ask Jesus to come into your heart and believe that He can change you. It will happen and you will find a happiness and joy unlike any you have ever known!

Not sure how to do this? There is a link below which takes you to what is called the A-B-C of forgiveness. Just go to ...
