Nothing Like a Glass
Ornament on a Live Christmas Tree
-
-
Christmas is a special
time of the year when we all get together to
celebrate and enjoy the festive season. Many of
us prepare almost year round for this special
month by buying the gifts for family and
friends, by creating decorations for the
holidays as well as by finding ways to help
others and bring joy in some of the less
fortunate peoples houses.
The latter part of December
is a time to treat those we care about, but also
share in the love of family and friends. Decorating
adds to the ambiance of the season by creating a
festive and special mood.
One Idea - Glass
Ornaments
You may find that what you do
with your family is nothing like what others do,
and that is okay. However, something like glass
Christmas ornaments are very common on live and
artificial trees with any family that chooses to
celebrate.
Learn how to care for and
store your ornaments so that you can enjoy them
each and every year for a long time to
come.
These decorations are going
to be more expensive than the ones made from
plastic. This is because more goes into making them
and the materials are a bit more expensive to make
and use.
However, you should find many
types of these ornaments that are not overly
expensive but that are also very beautiful. These
are not the best idea if you have children or pets,
but you can put them near the top of the tree if
you are worried that someone or something is going
to break them while you get through the
holidays.
Care and
Maintenance
You will not have to clean
your glass Christmas ornaments very often, but you
may want to do that every few years to keep them as
shiny and clear as you can.
When you do this, you have to
use care but you also want them to get clean. The
best way to clean these is to use a mild dish
washing detergent and a very soft bristled
toothbrush.
Make a small bowl of water
and detergent and then use the brush to clean off
the surfaces and then into the crevices and then
rinse with cool water. You can air dry them, or you
can use a soft cloth. The air drying may leave
spots so buff them out with a dry towel if that
happens.
After you have gone through
the holidays and enjoyed your glass Christmas
ornaments, it is time to put them away until next
year. Unlike the plastic types of ornaments, you
can not just pile them into a box or tote and then
store them away until next year. Instead, you have
to make sure your ornaments are wrapped and
packaged so that they do not bust when being moved.
Use bubble wrap or an
original wrapper with Styrofoam if you have saved
it. Cushion your glass Christmas ornaments and then
handle the box with care when you put them away in
storage.
As you care for your
heirlooms, remember that you are not the only one
that is going to love them. These are great ideas
for gifts for those that you may not know very
well, or for someone that you only wish to give
small gift to for the holidays.
These are great as keepsakes
and can be used to mark special occasions all year
around. They are appropriate for a birth, wedding,
or other life event, and can be put away until
Christmas roles around that year.
More about Live Trees and
Other Holiday Tales
The Christmas tree is a focal
point for many families as they celebrate this
special season. Children especially love decorating
for Christmas by participating in adding lights and
ornaments to the tree.
Placing some special pillows,
greeting cards and poinsettia plants around the
house can also be a great method of decorating for
Christmas.
Adding a touch of festive
spirit to your home isnt confined to just the
indoors. The exterior of your home, the lawn and
even the walkway can all be included when you are
decorating for Christmas.
The extent to which you
invest time and money in your Christmas decorations
is really a personal decision. Many families who
have children or have children visiting like to
make decorating a big event so they bond further
during this special time of year while others who
are without children or by themselves prefer to
keep it simple.
Bringing festive details into
your home is one way to display your feelings for
the season but also bring your spirits up to enjoy
every single minute of these magic times.
Today there are so many
choices in Christmas decorations that you can
easily choose a theme to match your house
décor or different likes and dislikes.
For example if you child
likes Scooby Doo you can easily find the character
all dressed up for Christmas in bed sheets, pillow
cases or bed throws and so on.
It can be taken very
seriously by some who put up elaborate decorations
and Christmas tress for all of us to enjoy and
admire.
Even the live trees that line
some city streets are including when decorating for
Christmas is done. Lights are strewn on the trees
so everyone can enjoy them as they drive down Main
Street or do some last minute window shopping for
gifts.
So, no matter if you don your
tree with glass ornaments or place a Disney
character for your children, getting involved in
decor is exciting and fun. It's sort of sad when
it's all over.
No need to fret though,
its only eleven more months until you can
start decorating for Christmas again.
