Christian Sheet
Music
Why
Christian Sheet Music is So Valuable for Singers
and Musicians
Some people believe that
reading notes is just for those on the record
labels but here is a story about one choir member
who discovered that Christian sheet music made all
the difference in the world in worship leading.
Many Christians nowadays think that just having the
spirit is enough. Of course, in one sense they are
right. Christianity is about accepting Christ. That
is what it means to have the spirit.
Using Christian Sheet
Music to Witness
Just having the spirit when
you sing is not enough to witness to others and
convince them that you are right. It is also not
enough to keep the faith of the Church going
strong.
To do that, you need skill,
brain, and dedication. You need to show the people
the strength of your spirit, both with your words
and with your songs. Christian sheet music can help
you do that.
Singing
Awakening
We used to sing without
Christian sheet music at our church. We all had the
spirit, and we thought that that would translate
into the music. We were wrong. Without the
Christian sheet music, we were sloppy at best.
We were together some of the
time, but often we were apart. Some people in the
group knew the music better than others. Some
people glossed over some parts of the songs, while
singing other parts.
Twice Right
Without the Christian sheet
music, the song was never the same twice. When we
would perform on Sundays, sometimes it was good and
sometimes it was bad. We needed Christian praise
sheet music to keep us together.
Finally, our choir director
brought in some Christian sheet music. Most of the
rest of us were able to ignore the mistakes that we
made, but I could tell that it grated on her ears.
She was a music fan, after all, and an expert in
directing and reading gospel music. She wanted to
hear us sing at our best. Until we got the music
notes to go by, we were not singing as one unit.
A Heavenly
Sound
Once we got it, however,
something miraculous happened. All of a sudden, we
were in harmony. I mean perfect harmony. It was
amazing. We never sang like that before.
Whatever we had said before
about being moved by the spirit and not needing
Christian sheet music, we all took it back. It was
obvious what having the songs on paper did for us.
It made us into a good choir.
More importantly, it made us
into a choir that could serve our Christian
community. That is, after all, what it is all
about. Now that we have studied and learned to read
Christian sheet music, it is easy to see the
difference that our singing makes to our Sunday
congregation. Now we really are worship leaders and
the people get the spirit too!!
